When it comes time to stroll down the aisle, you want to be the most ravishing creature this side of heaven. Sparkling eyes, glowing skin, a perfectly coiffed do and the wedding gown of your dreams. Get ready for the greatest shopping trip of your life! Unless you?re wearing your grandmother?s antique gown, there are major fashion decisions to be made! You already have a mental picture of the look you want on your wedding day. It?s your job to choose the gown that makes fantasy a reality. But with all the styles, colors and fabrics around, finding the perfect dress may seem like mission impossible! Don?t despair. By following a few basic guidelines, you?ll find the look that suits your unique style.

  • You'll need to order your gown and veil six to nine months before the wedding. Make an appointment with a reputable bridal salon, and let the consultant know what type of wedding you?re planning before you show up. Take along a friend or relative whose honesty and good taste you can count on you?ll need an objective opinion. Bring your checkbook a 50% deposit is customary when placing an order.
  • Choose a gown that makes the most of your figure. Princess or A-line styles are slimming and create the illusion of height. A full skirt hides heavy legs and hips.     • MEN: Gray- striped pants. Cutaway coats or short jackets in black or gray.
    Semi-Formal Evening Wedding
    • BRIDE: Floor-length or tea-length gown. Elbow-length or shorter veil. Elaborate fabric and ornamentation. White, pastel. 
    • BRIDESMAIDS: Tea-length or floor-length dresses with hats or other hair ornaments. Elaborate fabrics. Any color; maid of honor may wear contrasting color. 
    • MEN: Depends on the season. Dinner jackets; dark or light formal suits.
    Semi-Formal Daytime Wedding
    • BRIDE: Floor-length or tea-length gown. Elbow-length or shorter veil. Less elaborate fabric and ornamentation. White, pastel.

    Informal Wedding
    • BRIDE: Floor-length or tea-length gown; dressy suit. Short veil or hat. White, pastel. 
    • BRIDESMAIDS: Dresses the same length as bridal gown or shorter. 
    • MEN: Dark business suits; white or natural jackets or suits in warm weather.
